Need help - Can't figure out what is wrong!
Ok, need some help determining what could be wrong with my 96 Civic EX Coupe. Was running the car steady at 45-50 mph, and it died. No noises, etc, the motor just died. I replaced the fuel pump, the distributor cap and rotor, got new plugs and wires. The compression is a little low (125) but nothing that would make the engine not start. I now have fuel pressure at the fuel filter (replaced the filter about 4 months ago), and I get spark in all four plugs. Could this be a crankshaft sensor problem? An ECU problem? A timing problem? Any info would be helpful. Thanks

Re: Need help - Can't figure out what is wrong! (fixinit)
well if you are getting fuel and spark then my guess would be that it has to do with your valve clearances set too high or your cam timing is way off. Put the crank to TDC on the compression stroke for the number one cylinder and take off your dizzy cap and check to see if the rotor is pointing in the direction of the number one cylinder spark plug wire. If it does then the cam timing and ignition timing are correct.
Also check to see what color the spark is off the spark plug. I cant think of what color means you have a weak spark but that could also be the problem. I believe it is an orange to yellow spark that means it is weak. A blue spark means that it is good. Correct me if i'm wrong! If you are getting a weak spark then if could either be your ICM or your ignition coil. Hope this helps!
