I'm confused.

Why are you asking this question after this thread:https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/2061847 says you are on the road with it?

I'm sure something wouldn't be right running an auto ECU on a manual

I don't think it would.

I'm not positive maybe somebody else will chime in, I think it will be lookin for the transmission control unit. I'm not sure if the two are linked

You both are right. A manual accord will run with an automatic ecu but it won't run very well. I hear it bogs down after 5k rpm's. The vtec gets all f'd up with the auto ecu trying to activate it with the manual in the car. If you have been running your new ecu with the manual and haven't run into any bogging down problems, I think your good.

I'm jsut guessing that it is an OBD1 ECU that you have. Here is how to tell it it's manual or outo with the last three digits in the ECU ID number

OBD1
92-5 ECUs (PR4, P06, P08, P13, P14,P28, P30, P61, P72, P91 etc....)
Man = 000, 001, 002, 003, A00, A01, A02, C00, C01, C02, J00, J01, J02
Auto = J50, J51, 901, 902, C50, C51, C52, A50, A51, A52

Just in case
OBD2
96-00 ECUs (P2E, P2P, P2J, P72)
Man = 000, 001, 002, 003, A00, A01, A03, C00, C01, C02, C03, J00, J01, J02, A11, C11
Auto = A70, A71, A72, A91, A92, C70, C71, C72, C91, C92

So if you have a P06 A01 it's a manual
if you have a P06 A51 it's auto

Cheers

ECU location depends on what year/make/model car you have? Could be directly behind the center console attached to the fire wall. It could also be located at the base of the fire wall on the passenger floor, directly under where there feet would be. There is a kick plate (metal tray) covering the ECU if it is in this location.

Just peel back the carpet from the center consol. There may be two fasteners that you have to remove first. As you pull the carpet back you may see it right there behind the consol or if you pulll it back a bit further you may see the tray and ECU on the floor.

Has the P06 A01 in your trunk been chipped for your current vehicle setup or are you driving an Acord with an OBD1 92-95 D16 swap?

if your car has ABS, the abs computer is located in the trunk, that is probably what you are looking at. All honda's have the ECU somewhere on the firewall. Most accords have them located in the passenger side footwell. Just peel back the carpet and you should see a steel plate, and the ECU will be under it.

I think if you have auto transmission - then you have TCU installed - normally when you remove passenger side carpet you will see your ECU now its just a bit left side - (when you are looking from passenger seat.

what I don't think is -- if you are driving a manual transmission then you don't have that TCU box... your TCU is your arm and leg.

Are you running a manual (5spd) tranny? If your running a manual (5spd) tranny then get rid of the TCU, your manual ECU does not need a TCU.
