Default Two quick questions for dc2 owners

is a 9 gallon tank on a 98 gsr normal? I've been getting variations all over the map for mines, but it's not pass 10 gallons for sure. Any and all input is appreciated.

second question is a transmission/clutch question. What's the difference with a possible input/pilot bearing noise? is it where the input bearing noise stays on all the time and pilot bearing noise makes a grinding noise when clutch is depressed? TIA

when your clutch is depressed and it makes noise then it is your throwout bearing

okay got it. another question. Would a pilot bearing noise be constant or would it go away and come back on it's own with normal city driving? Sometimes I just rev the engine and the noise that sounds like it's coming out of the transmission goes away?

The pilot bearing should make no noise when the clutch is engaged. It isn't even spinning at that point.

Is it possible that the grinding noise from the pilot bearing is inconsistent? like it only comes on intermittently? I get a noise.. only sometimes. it's friggin weird, like an inconsistent symptom. :

Mine has always "seemed" to have a ~10 gallon tank too. I don't understand it but I've heard other people are in the same boat, so I guess it's fairly common. Makes no sense though bc they do have 13.2 gallon tanks... I'm stumped.

I went over the 10 gallon mark one time. But my gas light was on for the whole day. I usually go a little over 9 gallons on a normal trip to the pump. Damn, 13 gallons is what our cars are suppose to have??

I have surpassed the 11 gallon mark before, but I also had the gas light on for a long time...a while ago I was curious and ran it for as long as I could, until I got home and it would not start. After putting a little bit from a gallon container, I filled either high 10s or low 11 gallons at the pump. Grand total of less than 12 gallons.

I regret it because running out of gas can't be good for the car, yet equally regrettable is that it did absolutely nothing to help me figure out the issue.

nobody in here has a smaller gas tank then what the car came with.

the gas light comes on close to around when you have like 2.5 gallons of gas left....

if you fill up when you still have like an 1/8 of a tank or so left and only put in 8 gallons, thats about right.

My gas light comes on at about 10.2 or so gallons
I can drive a good 60-75 miles with my gas light on without it running out of gas (and yes I have done that before all highway though)

Trust me you have a 13.2 gallon tank. Either your not filling all the way up or you have at least 2 gallons left in your tank.

I think the most I have ever filled was 12.1 or right around there.

Its not a problem, you just still have 3 gallons left in the tank before you fill up.
