Default B16A/B18C1 Tranny Swap Problem

well, my hatch was put out for a few months now. purchased a gsr tranny to replace my b16 tranny for temp. was told that 2nd gear grinds when shifting into, but other then that, tranny is supposedly working fine!

well, HondaIntegra helped me swap the tranny out this past saturday. i just finished putting everything back together lastnight! sigh...sheesh...i was so dang happy when the car was put back onto the ground. well anyways, i filled the tranny up to overflowing, closed it up and waited til today to test drive it.

when i was in the car trying to shift into gears, nadda...nothing...pressed the clutch pedal all the way to the ground and tried to shift into all the gears. sigh...disappointing! VERY!!

when i turn the car off and start the car up in gear, it rolls as if i was slowly letting the clutch off to pick up and go...but i'm not doing that...just depressing the clutch to try and shift into gears...is it tranny related or am i doing something wrong here...master cylinder is full of fluid...

searched on h-t for info, but nothing ..maybe i just need to bleed the clutch line, i'll do that tomorrow, but just wanted some input on this issue of mines...

sounds like your clutch is not letting go when you depress the pedal. The trans probably isnt the problem since you can shift thru gears when the car is off.

you have to bleed your clutch line only if you got air into it by opening it up.

Try bleeding it out and see if it makes a difference anyway. Your clutch is probably not disengaging for whatever reason.

I'm experiencing similar behavior as the OP, and I've bled the clutch line half a dozen times already with little to no improvement. I would say try adjusting the clutch pedal height, but as I've already adjusted mine as far as it goes, if you've done it already then that's not the problem

My clutch slave cyl went out on me, replaced the throwout bearing during down time which was going bad too, clutch looks fine from when the tranny was off... still sort of stuck as to a legit fix for this.

there could also be an internal leak. Maybe the seals inside the rod of the Master cylinder or slave cylinder are worn. Meaning there is no fluid pressure even when there are no leaks.

clutch pedal feels kinda light too, but still comes back up after pressing it down...i'll bleed it first, hopefully it was just that...

if not, i guess i'm stuck redoing everything...

If the seals are shot then it's going to leak. There's just no where else for the fluid to go when it's under pressure.

nope. doesnt have to leak. There's a rod with a seal on the inside of the master cylinder. If one of those seals is partially worn, there's a good chance that there will just be fluid "blow by". It's like having worn rings on a motor. I've had this happen on my 240sx.

There might be a small fluid leak coming inside the car....but not always. This kind of fluid leak is also hard to pick up on right away.
