Default Reverse is gone!!

Alright my tranny will not go into reverse! Took my car on a few hard runs through the twisties last night. After the end of my last run I tried to put the car in first and my tranny seemed to be locked. was having trouble getting it to any gear then after some struggling I finally got it into 2nd and after i got the car moving all gears seemed to shift fine. My tranny has always been a little notchy shifting through gears but after this I havnt been able to get the car in reverse. I changed my tranny fluid out for some penzoil syncromesh hoping this would solve the problem but still nothing. Was able to get it into reverse a couple times and once it even popped right out of reverse. Now I havnt been able to get it in reverse period. You guys think I bent my shift fork? I hope i dont need a new tranny!! any ideas?

i dont think its my clutch. I can't physically shift into reverse at all. It's not like i can shift into reverse but cant get it to engage. All other gears shift and engage fine.

Well thats weird cause 5th and reverse are together. Like for example when my 5th gear syncros went out i couldnt get to reverse. So its probably something else happening. What trans is it? If its a D series PM Bense, he knows those like it grew on him.

moral of the story = you're not going to know unless you take it off, and take it apart to take a look at it.

Think of it as trying to diagnose a car and fix it without popping the hood.

3 options
####################
1. repair your transmission (it will cost more than a used one)
2. replace your transmission (it will cost a lot)
3. get a helms manual and learn to do it yourself. It's easy.

he could try checking the linkage and make sure the bushings are ok and tightening things up if anythings lose before putting the tranny on the bench.
