evap help!
hey whats up everyone! this is my first post so please bare with me.. i bought a 96 civic hb dx with a d16y7 engine. all stock and everything.. i went to smog it and found out that the EVAP canister or charcoal canister hoses are both disconnected!! can someone please tell me where the hoses go.? one hose is fatter than the other and it is braided too. where does the fat one go and the skinny one go?? any help would be greatly appreciated! thank you all very much!
I have a 96 DX daily driver. Where are they disconnected from (from the canister, or are the hoses on the canister but off of the other connections)?
If you are looking at the canister, the hose nearest the firewall runs to a solid pipe that runs back to the tank. The one towards the front of the tank runs to what I believe is the Canister Vent Shut Valve which is just to the left of the air box on top of the throttle body. It is a little solenoid that has a hose going to it from the EVAP canister, which then runs to a port on the intake manifold under the throttle body.
It never hurts to check a manual or post a picture.

If you look to the left of the canister do you see a pipe with no hose on it? That is what it looks like in the picture. The shorter hose towards the front of the canister should connect to that pipe. Make sure the long braided one is connected to the canister vent shut valve.
so from what i gather, the long braided hose goes to the throttle body and the short skinny hose goes to the pipe sticking out which is to the bottom left of the canister from the picture.. GREAT!!!! Ill connect those two today!! thank you for your help MatterMatt!!
