It has a crack between the spark plug hole and the intake valves. What are the chances of this being fixable?

my camera is old and only 3.1mega pixels. Its a crack. The machine shop found it when they were cleaning it.
To make sure we are clear, its between the spark plug hole and the top right valve correct ?
Looks pretty close to the threads, I would be worried about melting the threads and causing issues there.

And I would have the plug have rethreaded. This isnt a crazy fast boosted car. It's a built head w/stock ports. Basically stockish GSR block. 11.1:1 compression.

Actually I forgot to add in the flat faced valves and milled head into that math so more like 11.8:1

I've seen heads with dropped valve carnage be fixed, so I'm positive that can be fixed...Expect them to have to retap the spark plug threads, also, they may have to reshape the valve seats I'm sure. Expect it to be pretty labor intensive regardless of how easy the fix seems to be...
It can be fixed , but it will involve removing the seats and grinding out the cracked area. Then welding and re-machining the valve seat pockets and spark plug hole.
The aluminum is pretty solid in that area.If it's not leaking i would just run it or replace it.Fixing it is really more work than it's worth for a stock head.

ur not going to leak compression or coolant, so why not run it?
if it ends up being F'ed, then u could take the money that u were going to use to fix that one, on a different one.

2 out of 10 heads that come n the shop are cracked there its just into the plug hole .. its usally from being overheated or running with the plugs loose ..
I havnt seen one drop a seat when there cracked there

I'm gonna take a chance and run it as is. If it ***** up then I'll pick up another one.
And for the record, I would never JB weld it.

Thats a common problem on lots of different engines. The cracks usually dont go deep enough to cause any problems. I know on my VW 16v or 20v heads Ive never had a problem with those cracks.

?
Its because the area between the spark plug and valve seat is thin and normal driving would cause it to crack over several heat cycles.
