Default ecu help

so i converted my car to obd1 with a obd 2 to obd1 conversion harness.. my friend and i tried to scan the ecu for codes with a scanner but it will not pick up codes off the obd 1 ecu. its like it gets lost in the harness.. before we could get the codes out of the obd2 ecu with no problem.. and one have any ideas on how to just directly access the obd1 ecu??

Use a paperclip and jump the SCS connector. An OBD2 scan tool will not properly stream data from an OBD1 ECU.

the scan tool is universal for numerous cars. my buddy works at an engine shop... we already used a paper clip and it did not blink at all
