Default battery/starting = problems check it out

Car has not been in use for about 9 months. I know the battery is drained from the alarm system. So I unhooked the battery. I hooked it up and jumped the car, everything starts up but when I turn the engine off and try to start it it does not start. How long do I need to let the engine rev before it is fully charged? or What is the best way to charge the engine, driving it? Take it to autozone? Dealer?(my car is under factory warranty)

I want my car to start up w/ no problems just like new. Thanks to all.

it will take quite a while for the battery to become fully charged. if you can, go ahead and drive the car around for a while. the higher the revs go, the more the alternator will work and it should charge faster. be aware of the gas doing bad and your car might possibly need an oil change as well. make sure your other fluids and other stuff are fine since your car has been sitting for such a long period.

well it does take more than that to charge a bat and driving it around for a bit is a good way to recharge it ... (or just sit at a high 3 to 4 grams and waste the gas) but for sure you should have emptied out the oil and gas before letting it sit ... now the oil is probably not fully circulated inside the engine so an oil change will help out alot and the gas ... just put some new gas in and that should be fine ... anyway a basic tune up couldnt hurt would it ??? ... it should be fine after that ...

How long did the stock battery sit at a full dis-charge state? If more then a week scrape it and get a new one. A factory battery is not a deep cycle battery and will never come back to its full holding cap. Once you completly discharge it to a flat line it will never be the same no matter what anybody says. you cn try to recharge it but it will allways be weak. A new battery will clear up the problems you are having.

thanks for the input...Do you think I could take it to the dealer and have them charge the battery, I still have factory warranty.

O even better. Tell them it just stopped working. They should warranty it with out a problem. I not saying to lie. But get back some of that money you spent on buying that car. That battery is history. I would not drive the car on that battery because your just going to stress the alternator by trying to charge a no good battery with a dead cells. No need to cause more harm then whats done.

^^^^^^^ It should run fine. As long as you don't rev it straight to 3 to 4 grad right away. You should let it idel for about 10-15 min to get the oil thats in the pan back around the motor. Doing a oil change would be great but is not going to get all around the motor from just pouring it into the motor from the valve cover.
