My car has been overheating during idle. My coolant level is fine, so I figure I would change the Radiator cap and thermostat.
When I rev the car to about 2000 rpms the coolant temp goes down immediately. I thought it was the water pump, but I don't think it would be cooling down if it was bad, plus the water pump isn't that old.
So to start diagnosing the problem, I figure I'd replace the simple things first. If anyone else has any suggestions please let me know.
I have a tester to see if I have exhaust gas in the cooling system from a blown headgasket, but I have had those lil leaks before, and I just don't think that is the case.
Anyone know what cap will fit my Half sized C&R radiator?

Overheating at idle could be rad fans not working, stuck closed t-stat, and possibly a warped head or blown gasket but you would definitely be seein low coolant or at least smoke. Let me know what you find out.
overheat at idle is usually cooling fans.
if you rev and it cools down you may have a lack of waterflow issue. which yes it could be the pump

The fan is on 24/7. I have it setup via AEM EMS to have the fan all the time, well atleast when it is above 175 degrees.

Yah, I figured that. I will find my combustion gas tested and test for a bad headgasket, or crack. But like I said, I have had coolant issues before, and I don't think it's either of those. But I am going to rule it out as soon as I find the damn thing. I might have to borrow my friends.

couldnt be a 2800 unless its like a 24" fan or some chit. what size? how many fans? a/c?
i had probs with mine. biggest thing i found to help was my condenser was fairly clogged with dirt etc. and i also went to two 12" fans instead of the one 10" and one 12". also try a 30/70 antifreeze/water mix. water wetter/teaspoon of dawn soap and make sure to clean the radiator fins, condenser and intercooler. dont matter how big the fan is if the air cant flow past the clogged up _____.
through my cooling system difficulties i have found a "good" (as in OE if possible") radiator cap is very important. i run standard pressure caps but replace often as i seem to have a lil boilover every 10 months or so and i get a new cap and no more issues. but up till recently i was usin cheap caps too.
