Question about integra I bought yesterday
Hello I just bought my first car yesterday, a 98 gsr integra. Before I bought it I had it inspected at a dealersihp and they said there was a crack in the transmission housing but I could fix it with a weld.
I have now gotten 3 different answers about how to fix this. One guy said aluminum spot welding, one said cold welding, and another was tig welding. Does anyone here know which one would be best? I'm a little nervous about the tig welding because I was told they would have to remove the whole transmission. Thanks for the help.

1st, why would you buy a car with a crack tranny? 2nd, did you get a deal buying the car and 3rd, go and get a another tranny and swap it out with the cracked one. alot easier then trying to weld it back.
dont cold weld it, thats basically just crazy super glue. spot weld it. or just get a new one if you can afford. otherwise spot weld will be a temporary solution until you can buy a new one (which you should)
$5600 with 97000 miles, is it really a big problem? The dealership wasn't the place that was selling it to me so I don't know why they would lie and say it's not a big deal. They were the ones that told me cold welding would be fine. As you have probably noticed by now, I don't know that much about cars so I need to figure out what I should do.
I don't really know too much about it, but he said there was a leak coming out of where one of the bolts that you unscrew to fill the transmission with either oil or transmission fluid, but I forgot which one he said.
I asked another mechanic and he said all I had to do was get someone who can tig weld and they can fix it up that way, so I don't know who is right.
