quick question

before you make a decision like that, do you know how to work on cars? if not, stick with the one that is running. if so, is it financially worth it to get and repair the non running car?

How's about a grandma driven DX hatch with 80,000 miles on it that hasn't been fucked up?

I'd recommend against buying other people's projects really, especially if they're other people's HYBRID projects, ie: LS/VTEC, minime. And there's no reason to have a powerful motor that doesn't run, unless they give you permission to fix it before you buy it, and there's no way that will happen.

Try to cut a deal with the h22 guy to be able to take the motor out and buy the shell or something. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend buying either.

buy looking at your username you want the h22hatch. its you call if you can fix it yourself or have the money to get it fixed, then get the h22 swapped hatch. if not get the ej1

Running or not, Mini-Me.

But if you want the H22, that price has gotta drop...then do a H2B for better reliablity when fixing up.

yes, i have plenty of knowledge of cars and how to work on them. and i've had an h22 hatch recently but had to sell it awhile back do to lack of money but i'm now back and able to start another project. but the reason i'm thinking ej1 is it's only 2500 and hmotorsonline has a b16 long block direct drop in for 1000 all's it need is headers.

Please don't yap about h22 if you don't have one. h2b is in no way shape or form more reliable than a stock h22. Think about it.

To the OP, I would highly recommend getting something BONE stock. You will encounter far less problems.

Just my experience driving a 93 hatch w/ a H22. I hated it. Simple opinion man.

at this point i'm definitely thinking ej1 dude to the b16 swap i found a full swap for 1700 which is a pretty good deal right? its motor trans everything!!!!! the ej1 is stock other than taillights, rims, and that motor which would be swapped soon afterwards.

Get the h22.

Honda's sub-standard displacement engines have low torque from the factory .

You'll notice the pain if you live in a hilly area.

******* 3rd gear on interstate 84 FTMFL

EDIT:
Nvm, it depends on what's wrong with the H22.

If he slung a rod the engine isn't worth more than you can throw it.

I don't know, you'd have to have pix 'n stuff of each - run a carfax on each.

I'm still trying to figure out how an h2b in stock for is unreliable.

I can't tell you how many preludes I've seen on autotrader with 200k+

Yes interstate 84 does suck *****, Honestly Id look a little more see if you cant find a stock hatch. That way you can do as you please to it and you wont have to look and find all the jerry rigging that might have been done by the previous owner. A clean slate is always best IMO I regret buying my hatch that looked good but there was alot more wrong with it than I bargained for.

i would get the eg hatch with the h22 but find out what's wrong with it. and get him to lower the price a bit ;]

yeah, as someone said earlier, if it's something small you should get it.

My sentiments exactly.

Say it's just a bent valve, fairly easy fix for a running h22 hatch.
