Default MPFI swap check engine light question

I had done my 2nd DPFI to MPFI swap last oct. and my check engine light has been on since then, but I know my wiring is correct, my car runs fine, and I know there are no wires screwed up, so my question is.. why is there a check engine light? how come people's dont have the light and some do? if I would wire the 2 left over wires from that one sensor plug that isnt used would that kill the light?
