Grinding during shifting
so i have a 00 si with i/h/e and when i go full throttle in first (to just about redline), and let off to go into second, and try to shift, the gears usually grind, and i have to let the tach. go down to idle and then try to slam it into gear.......also when i do get it into second (and sometimes third) the clutch seems to be slipping if i am going full throttle. it only slips for a second after i let the clutch all the way out, but if it is still pushed in the slightest bit, it slips. could all of this be because of a worn clutch?
First off slamming into gear is never a good thing for the tranny. The grinding may be from a worn clutch or it could possibly be a bad syncro. How many miles is on the clutch and tranny?
ttt noobies , if you have a stock ecu with a rev limiter this is what you do. when ever you are racing or just in practice and you are getting ready to redline keep your hand on the shiftnob if you are shifting first to second you will feel you the shifter move towards the second gear (almost like it is shifting itself) that is when you shift say for example you have a stock ecu your redline is 8200 rpm you will feel it like at 8100 right befor the redline and the same applies for second to third and third to fourth and fourth to fifth just give it a shot!
now if you can't hit the gear just get an automatic!!......lol........automatic!!!
