basically I want to find a turbo that doesnt need a oil line or cooling[coolant] lines. It has a self contained oil system.... does this exist? I have looked and looked...

YES... the turbo gets exhaust gases and gets HOT HOT! but I do NOT want to use my engine oil for my turbo...or cooling lines.... I want a turbo that is a closed system...

is this possible? ANY IDEAS?

may be able to help with the right funding.

if you're concerned about your oil temps increasing, run a cooler. you don't need a h20 cooled chra, so you can skip the coolant lines. fwiw, the oil passes by quickly in the chra...very little heat transfer occurs from a turbo when it comes to oil.

 

build a reservoir. you'll need two oil pumps. look at sts turbo

Why do u have a problem with using the oil from the engine? Thousands of people run their turbos by using oil from the engine and dont have any problem if thats what your afraid of. What is the main reason u dont want to use the oil from the engine?

keep looking, there are lots of them out there.

 

try searching for a VNT turbo

 

It's a lot of work, and i think it's pointless for the amount of work you have to do...that's my opinion though.

anyways keep lookin' and you should find one, or do it your self like a post before me said, you need 2 pumps and a reservoir.

push and pull.... you'll also want your turbo to be gravity drained although I seen were it's not but I would think that'll shorten the life of the turbo.


reservoir I say just enough for 1 1/2 quarts.

 

i believe aerocharger makes turbos that are not oil feed or water cooled

Wow thats pretty interesting

 

i thought garrett developed foil bearings just after WWII to solve the issue of oil and coolant lines, can anyone back me up on this?

you need a turbo with a foil bearing equipped chra
