can the obd1 be converted to an obd2?

 

Oil pump housing is the only difference, because the Crankshaft Flux Sensor bolts to the bottom of the oil pump housing, the OBD1 pump did not have this sensor and thus it does not have to hole to mount it. You will also need the reluctor wheel to make that sensor function.

A Reluctor Wheel is a toothed wheel that is usually magnetic, but can be made of any metal that is used in conjunction with a pickup coil (a coil that is energized and when the teeth rotate in close proximity to it, deforms the voltage that produces an analog signal to tell a device that it has passed a certain point. Crank sensors can use this method, or a hall effect switch/sensor to determine crank position.

Normally the Reluctor Wheel has an indexing tooth that is of a different spacing from the rest, to set a common pattern (say 31 short teeth and 1 long one, so the PCM can determine when the crank has made a full revolution.)

u mean the crank pulley gear that holds the timing belt? can you get me a pic of one that I need for my application?

This wheel will work on all OBD2 GSR's and Type R's, make sure to use a GSR or Type R oil pump. A B16 one will not interchange because the wheel is on the other side of the pulley, make sure you take note of that.
