Default Q: over heating .... can it lean to warp head ????

This is more of a overheating issue on my EF b18c, stock motor, OEM thermostat, stock ef radiator & fan.

My car is in storage and I only start it up 1-2 every 6months.
One time I started the car and let her idle for 10-20mins and after coming back the temp needle was all the way up.

I thought it may have just been a "defective thermostat" that was stuck closed.
I replaced it and it still overheats after about 10mins of driving or even while idling from cold start to 10mins.

Q: I'm about to replace my HG, by question is, how do I know if I have a warped gsr head? ..... if it is warped how do I fix it?

Check your oil....see if your coolant and oil are mixing. If so then your head is warped, unless you messed up a hose. But that could be your problem. If it is warped you just pull it off and bring it to a machine shop and have them re-surface it. It costs like $75 at the machine shop by me.

I will do that next weekend....(replace oil to see if they are mixing)

other than that, I don't even see white smog from the tail pipe.... she still sounds like a champ, no sputter or weird idle at all...

After you confirm that you don't have a warped head or blown HG (recommend a compression check) - FLUSH your coolant. I had an overheating problem that was resolved by doing a chemical coolant flush (got at advance auto)
