Tranny qustions
I have a questions about type r tranny I did searches and I didn’t find any similer problems.
I have a 99 gs-r with a jdm type r 96 spec engine and tranny swap. The problem is the shifter has a lot of play while in gear, in first I can move it all the way over to fifth and all the gates are really far apart(is this normal?). Prior to the swap the gs-r shifter was tight and close and the linkage was re-used from the gs-r. thank you for any help!

Edited I found one answer. I don't know anyone with a type r to find out if this excessive play is normal. so please anyone with itr reply and lmk I don't want to lose my lsd and put the gs-r tranny back in. thanks.
Hey, I have a 2000 Type-R and the shifter and shift point is all the same as any other honda. Preludes and RSX's and New Civic Si's are the only shifters that feel different cause they are cable, but not that much different. All B series tranny in Hydraulic cable are the same Except for gearing and Lsd and so on so forth.
To the OP:
What condition are the bushings surrounding the shift-linkage in? Is everything torqued to spec?

I do believe the R shifter has a slightly shorter throw. Ill confirm later...

USDM B16 = ITR in gearing... GSR is the next in line followed by the LS tranny.

easy. check work. recheck work. tripple check work. used same principle on all worked i've done and always correct what went wrong or missed. it could be a worn bushing or it could be a bent linkage. you wont know till you work and check, double check, tripple check your work. stop getting lazy and start working.
Ok I have checked to see if any of the likage is messed up but maybe i did miss somthing. for sure i'll check it again know that i know it's not supposed to be like that. thanks for your help guys.

check your shift linkage at the stabilizer. if it has come undone it will exhibit symptoms as you describe.....
if that's not it, then it's time to break open the tranny. it's possible missing one of the detente ***** or the selector forks are worn/ bent.

I got the swap from hmotors so i don't think it would be in the tranny(I hope!) I havn't had a chance yet to look and see.
