Default why block off oil squirters

I noticed some people block off the oil squirters once they replace there stock internals with forged parts. Why is that? Is there a benefit of some kind?

forged pistons dont need the cooling effects of the oil squirters, where stock pistons do

if you don't block them off after you remove the squirters you have a good chance of ruining your bearings because of low oil pressure.

i understand the benefit for more oil flow to the bearings, but isn't there sufficient oil pressure down there anyway?

can't never have enough.

Rather have extra oil then lack oil

if you remove the squirters but do not plug the holes where you removed the squirters from its like a massive oil pressure leak, therefore causing the bearings to become somewhat starved!!

Less oil on the pistons means less reciprocating weight and more free power

Can't always say too much oil isn't a bad thing.. Try adding an extra quart then you are supposed to, see if it does anything bad :-P

I know what you mean, but I just said that stating with the correct amount of oil in the engine, that the extra oil and pressure wont hurt and depending on your setup, you might not even need the squirters.

If you go with a custom stroke and relocate the wrist pin, your piston skirt might actually hit the oil squirter's... so you would have to remove them; just an example...

Oil skuirters have there place, just not necessary for street or drag racing. Endurance racing, yes. Running a 500 Mi Nascar race between 8000- 9000 RPM's and trying to get a little better gas milage (leaner) yes.

so would welding the holes be sufficient? Or do I need some GE oil squirt hole fillers?
