Quick Question
Hey, Ive been having problems with my civic. Every once in a while, were talking once in about 2 months, ill have problems shifting gears. Ill have it in gear and after i shift, it will be as though i still have it in neutral. You can hear the rpms increase but its as though the gear isnt engaged, or atleast not all the way. I dont remember what gear exactly but its always a low gear, either when i shift from first to second or second to third. Itll do it a few times in one day and then not again for like 50 days. I just had the clutch replaced about 1k miles ago so im not sure what it could be. Throw out bearing? thanks for the help guys
I didnt do the work, My mechanic had to resurface my engine head (blew a head gasket and it overheated) and while he was doing that he supposedly replaced the clutch. He seems like a good guy though, I dont think hed expletive me over. I just want to make sure i stress that it is not a frequent problem, it rarely happens
Also, totally unrelated problem...the car idles a little rough when the ac is on, would that be a belt problem or the pulley? i dont know much about cars but i dont mind doing a little research or doing the work myself if it isnt difficult but i could use a push in the right direction

a clutch will usually slip before it grinds, except when you're revving the **** out of it.
i'd go back and tell him the clutch he just installed slips. if you followed the break in procedure, and he' s a decent dude, he should replace it.

really, i wouldn't even worry about he iac. if you really want to clean it, i think it's like two 10 mm bolts. hose that bitch down with some carburetor cleaner and stuff a little pipe cleaner in the manifold. it'll smoke like hell on startup though, so don't do it in the garage unless you want to get smoky. pokey
i shouldnt worry about the rough idle? i just dont want it to escalate into something else or stall out or something. thanks though man, ill take a look at it
