i have a 91 crx w/b16 and every time i start it and let it run for about 2 minutes i start hearing clicking from under the valve cover. What is that, and how do i fix it

Adjust the valves

 

X2... Yea you might want to start there. Or at least check the adjustment.

 

how exactly do you adjust the valves, i've never messed with the valve train. the motor bogs down when i hold down the gas, could that be caused from the valves not being adjusted right

 

yes that could be or your lifters may be sticking as well..make sure theres plenty of oil in your motor.. dont rod you car either or u might bend a valve

 

actually the 1st gen b16a are very notorious for the Loss motion assemblies to wear out. suggestion would be to replace them with some GSR loss motion assemblies.. i only speak on experience.. for this happened to me..


Lost motion assemblies are what the lifters tap on.

p.s. they can be taken out w/o taken off the head btw

Mine make noise too but they have been for a while and I've had no problems. until I actually have a need to I won't mess w/ it. Come to think of it I have never known anybody that HAD to replace these? I think they just make noise but if they go out? I don't know, never encountered it. (nor have my other Honda technician friends)

 

injectors can tick like that too.

but most likely you just need to adjust the valves.
