Searched and nothing helped .. IACV problem - please help
I have a 98 DX with a b16a swap and an EX wiring harness...
when i first put the b16a in i was using a p73 computer (1.8L)
down the road i had to get rid of the p73 for a while and used a p2p (1.6L)
*when using the p2p the car would jolt back and fourth if i wasnt driving anywhere between id say 1k-2kRPMS and the car would idle fine unless i held the gas at around 1300RPMs it would sound like a dulled down 2-step and would purge...
i then got the p73 back and had no more problems
eventually i sold the p73 and put in a JDM GSR ecu (1.8L)
...noooooooooooo problems with the IACV again
then, i finally bought the correct ECU (P30) (1.6L)
and what do you know, IACV problem...
i ran the CEL check and got code 14 (IACV)
i checked the IACV and only one bolt was holding it on due to the fact that the bolt pattern wasnt wide spread enough so i came to the conclusion that it was the wrong one and after trying my friends LS IACV i realized that both 1.8L IACVs dont comply with my manifold...

^^THAT IS A PICTURE COMPARISON OF A B18 (BOTTOM IACV) AND THE IACV I RECENTLY BOUGHT THAT BOLTS UP TO MY MANI PERFECTLY (TOP IACV)
so i went ahead and ordered the wide bolt patterend IACV (the only other type) which was FOR my motor, and im still having the problem...
it strikes me as odd that with a 1.8L ECU i didnt have the problem but with 1.6L ecus i do have the jolting problem, even tho this time its the correct 1.6L ecu for my motor...
what could be the problem here? i dont know what else to try...

man i don't know, that is weird....if you already converted the car to obd1 then get a p28 and have it chipped with crome or something, you can shut the IACV off with it atleast that would fix the problem

bump, glad to see your posts were all worthy enough to help dylan's idle air control valve problem.

I would recommend you to pull the codes from the ecu. Just jump it and read the codes. It will tell you exactly what is wrong.
Should be a code 14 or so. Search around for the codes and what they mean.
