Default Yet another IACV Problem

its on a 2000 civic ex with 50k miles. has the stock d16y8 motor with intake. swapped out the auto tranny for a manual. ran fine for a month or so then started to have problems with the idle air control valve. it threw the code after a misshift. I've tried two other units with the same problem come to find out the original is still good. I did the three wire to two wire plug change along with the repin of the ecu. After I reset the ecu and the code clears. it will run good for a day usually then all of a sudden throw the code and idle bad. I've double checked the wiring.

Could my ecu be shot?

or could i have not bleed the coolant and an air bubble is forming at the IACV causing it to not function right?

sorry for the repetitiveness of this thread topic.

thanks for the help.

Default Re: (DrewMD)

my thread [TPS] im having the same problem too. well kinda. bad idle 1000-1700 up and down at it. I was told by someone who works at honda that its the ecu and wiring harness. I dont think it is...i had a 1.5 and now a 1.6 and still using the same harness. Someone also told me to bleed my coolant and clean the IACV I will do this tonight and hopefully that solves it.

Clean the electrical connector with a little bit of brake cleaner (or you can buy cleaner specifically for it) and put a glob of dielectric grease on there.

I had the same problem awhile ago -
Good iacv, reoccuring cel, etc
Did the above and problem has been gone for nearly 2yrs
