d16 turbo choice...
So after lots of research and somewhat understanding compressor maps, I've decided on the garrett t3 "super 60" for my turbo to get me to 300ish hp. D16z6 with forged internals and full rebuild of the motor, but with stock items, such as in the head and whatnot. That's what I'm confused on, since I opted for no port/polish of my head, would it be wiser to get the .48ar instead of the .63ar? I don't want to run out of breath at redline, but I also don't want to spool at 5k... There is a good chance I'll upgrade some head stuff this winter, so would the .48 be money wasted if I plan on upgrading?
Thanks in advance,
Ryan

THere have been some people here with .48ar housings that hit 300. With stock items, you'll most likely need a .63ar, or at least upwards of 17-20psi. You will, however, have a big fat torque band if you do either with that turbo. With a 3" DP/exhaust, stock d16z6, 93oct gas, and a t3/t04b s-trim (basicly same as the T3 60trim), I got 10psi by ~4k with a stg1 .48AR exhaust. A stg3 .48 and 18psi would likely put you near, as thats the most efficient psi for that turbo in terms of heat and CFM, and I'd guess a stg3 .63AR exhaust would put you over 300 and hit full boost before 5k.
