Default led help...not blinking when armed..READ NOT IN VALET MODE

i just installed a 791xv into my 02 accord.
my brain is mounted in the center of my car and LED in the factory location on the drivers door.

what i ended up doing is wire the LED into the factory LED wires in the door and at the door harness plug at the drivers kickpanel to save myself the headache of running the wires.

my problem is when i arm the car the led almost looks as though it is on constant (like valet mode) but its not. it is attemting to blink but not fully turning off.

can lengthening the wire cause some kinda of resistance problem where it cant fully blink?

fyi when the alarm is disarmed it is off like its sappose to.

do not use the factory door led. Its not the right voltage for your alarm.

actually what i did was remove the factory led with its little board and rigged the viper led in its place. the only thing i salvaged was wiring to it. im thinking that since i had spliced into a longer and slightly thicker wire that it may be causing the problem..any thoughts?

no it shoild be fine. make sure that the polrity is right or none thing is pinched. wait your using the factory wire. I think something else is tagged to it. Make it a straight run with out the factory wire

im sure the polarity is right and nothing is pinched..and im "PRETTY" sure nothing is tagged into it but it is malfunctioning so more than likely ill be rewiring the light and no using any of the factory wiring.

i guess thats what happens when you try to take shortcuts haha

ill let you know what happends..thanks

on one of my teg I had one on the trunk lid. I sure your problem lies in using the factory wire.

An LED is fairly simple its a diode that releases photons when current flows through it. So if its "always on" then the wire powering the LED is always on.

You can follow the same principles as a diode. For example the voltage across a diode is .7V. Now if your using your own purchased LED look up what the current requirements will be. The more current the brighter up to the max allowed.

Now you can use the old equation V=IR to figure out the resitor you need. 14.4-.7/5ma = 2.7k ohm resistor in series with the LED.

My point there is nothing magic about an LED. The different voltage LEDs that you see have the resistor built into them. But they all function the same way. If its always on check the power wire supplying the LED.

*edit* you fixed it while I was posting
