Default Faulty Ignition Switch or...

Alright so yesterday I got in my car and went to turn the key, all the dash lights came on, no crank at all. I have had this happen to me intermittently for about a month now, this is the 3rd time it has happened. If I turn the key really hard the will eventually start *sometimes*, once I get it running it's fine, and never seems to happen again until a week or 2 later. Sometimes when I go to turn the key it feels stiff and is hard to turn (on and off). Any ideas?

BTW this seems to only happen when it is hot out 80 degrees or higher, and it's a B16A2 Swap in the rex. And I did search and read a few threads but none sounded the same as my problem.

Thanks

Sounds like the ignition switch. Mine died after hitting one of those white stop strips at a stoplight. The jolt must have caused to to get in that "dead spot." Anyhow, it worked for like a week then went irregular. Took me a month to figure that out. Mine was a bit different in that I could turn the key to run and no check lights would come on. I had to hold the key in between start and run for the car to actually run, otherwise it would crank and die when I let off the key.

I'd say pull the switch, get a flat-head screwdriver and see if you can start it with that. That was the way I figured out that my switch was broken past any point of incorrect fitment.

try resoldering the infamous main relay, since that's a free fix.

ignition switch is usually more along the lines of mikejr83's symptoms...

I'm new to this forum, Looking for a fix for the exact same problem you have. Have to hold the key in place to keep the car running. I had to drive 75miles like this to get home. I was thinking of just bypassing the switch with a toggle switch and a starter button out of an s2000. Cheeper than the $300 a new ignition switch will cost. but havent a clue hot to do this on a newer car. (95 DelSol Si manual tranny)
