wheel stud
you could remove the hub. or you can do it ghetto and shave down the backing plate, and a little of the hub itself.

yeah they can be a bitch sometimes. it's not really that bad when you get use to it though. here is some advise though, if the old stud is out already. you can take the new stud and grind one side of the head down and it will go in easier, if you can't remove the knuckle
cut the stud close to the end with a wiz wheel and punch it out with a hammer and the new one turn the hub until you can slide the new one behind it a little trick we do at the shop is grind the end a little where it meets the hub and pull it threw and your on your way 15 minute job tops

Looking directly at the hub right... when you turn it there is always a space where u can push the stud completly out of the hub and pull one in. As he suggested cut the stud so that you have less to push out and to get caught up on the knuckle and stuff and use a punch and hammer and drive it out. Put the new one in, use a nut thats bigger than the diameter of the wheel stud as a spacer then get a wheel lug (preferably one you're not gonna reuse) and tighten it with a impact gun or brute force until the stud is pulled into the back of the hub evenly.
Also you may want to put a lil bit of grease on the splined area of the stud that goes into the hub, doesnt do squat sometimes but lube is always a good thing, she said
