Default vtec has a mind of it's own, please look in ..!!!!

i've got a problem on the b16a2, when i take it past 5.5rpm the vtec will kick in and pull hard,
and on some days it will not kick in at all or not as hard as it should,

i had a oil and filter change and a can of gas booster last week, still no luck, any idea's,

it's always warmed up fully b4 its taken past 5.5

no cel's? try reving up slowly and going back and forth around where vtec engages see if you can hear anything. you said ur waiting for the car to fully warm up, anyway you can switch ecu's or try a new vtec solenoid

no cel's, like i said, it's only now and again, but doing it more recently, i should be getting a chipped p28 chromage soon,

Gas booster? That wont do %^&# for VTEC engagment, lol.

What computer are you running? Is everything hooked up correctly, like oil pressure and VTEC solonoid? Do you have a working speedo (consistently)
Tach works ok?

stock p2t ecu, tach works perfectly fine, oil was changed, checked, not a drop of oil any where,
i've got a mugen high pressure oil filter which has been on it for a 6 months

The last resort would be the VTEC solonoid itself, which pretty much would never go bad within an engines lifetime. If it were to, it would be very rare, but you would also get a CEL for it.

How about your LMA's? If they do no retract when you push them down your vtec will not engage properly. And it's mechanical so chances are your CEL will not appear. Look into that, especially if it's a high mileage head.

if nothing is showing up. I bet its just when we have super hot days, and then cooler days. there is a nice diff in power on n/a 4bangers i know thatt

i would replace the vtec solenoid filter...chances are that it needs to be replaced

the heads only done 68ooo miles,
oils changed every 5ooo miles,

i will take off the vt solenoid tomorow and have a look,

try removing the VTEC solenoid and cleaning it to see if there's any change...they can get clogged from time to time...also while it's out replace the little gaskets/seals or whatever.
