Noprimer is needed if you don't do any bodywork. As far as a gun, look around at the HVLP's. You should have a couple brands to choose from.

Peimer is only needed if you did body work or want to fill feather scratchs and hvlp gun needs 10 lbs at the cap your compresser will not keep up .. your clear will have bad texter

You would also want to primer it if you break through the clear. You can either seal it and spray wet on wet or prime,block then paint.
