question about a v-tec civic motor
if the engine is a "v-tec" will it say"v-tec" on the valve cover every time,? The reason I ask is there is a guy telling me the motor in his car is a v-tec, but it does NOT say it. its a 2000 civic, its currently cut in half (parts car) . He claims its a v-tec but I'm not so sure, I only had about 2 minutes to check it out since I had to get going.
thanks

Then I guess you've never seen a D16Y8 motor before. They were under the hoods of all 96-00 civic ex's.

It does NOT always say "VTEC" on the valve cover. A lot of VTEC engines came with valve covers that didn't "advertise" it.
Look for the VTEC solenoid on the back-left of the head. That's the easiest way to tell.
