Default Want to do a Turbo Setup for b16a2 EG hatch.

Hi I just got my car a few months ago and I am planning on doing a turbo setup.
Specs:
1992 Civic SI hatchback
2000 b16a2 engine
Everything is stock and I am planning to boost with stock internals.
At most I would spend is 3grand with the tune. If anyone have any idea what kit is good and where I can get it installed /w tuning.
I live around the Bay Area in CALI. Any help is appreciated.

3 grand for a kit + tune is stretching it..
Youll have to buy a used kit, which i almost would not recommend cause i got screwed when i did that.
But if you can find someone selling a complete kit that you trust, go for it.
Then get a chipped obd1 ecu and get it tuned with your tuners choice ems.

What kind of power do you wanna make?

well if money is an issue, then do a homemade kit, you can piece together a VERY decent kit for 3 grand, but you'll get a **** kit for the same price

homemade with brand new parts will entail
manifold ~800
turbo + lines ~ 600
injectors ~ 100
intercooler ~ 150
intercooler piping ~ 100
blow off valve ~ 100
external wastegate ~ 150
head studs ~ 100
downpipe ~150
chip your ecu + datalog ~ 80
wideband ~ 200

that comes out to 2530. Its 10x better than a kit, you will come out of it 10x smarter than a person who buys a kit, you will have 10x more street cred... etc etc etc

^^^ then, add tuniung. It would probably be under your 3k budget.

Keep in mind you may need a clutch and stuff like that as well. Some of teh parts mentioned above can be had for cheaper, it just depends on what you wanna do. Spoolin performance has a nice log manifold for only 300, so thats 500 saved right there.

Wow thank you guys. I am looking around 250whp with stock internals.
Where should I go to buy the parts? EBay? (Don't really know which parts are safe to buy from ebay)
Thanks again guys for the help. I am new to the turbo community so I need all the help I can get. B.T.W. Anyone know a good tuner around California? Preferably in the Bay

Ill try to give you some brands as a general guide to help

manifold= either a drag, spoolin performance, or inlinepro(only if you want to spend more.. its pretty much the best)
turbo= a garrett, t3/t4 or so should be good
lines= tuner toys, or anyone, actually., turbo and oil feed line
injectors: dsm injectors + resistor box, look at homemadeturbo.com
intercooler= probably ebay, or one off of car at a junkyard
intercooler piping- try to find a diy kit, or soemthing like that to fit your specific turbo and intercooler
blow off valve, a used greddy, or a 1st gen dsm bov
external wastegate= used tial or something like that
downpipe-whetever you can get one, probably used to keep cost down
head studs arent totally necessary i dont think- but arp
your tuner should be able to chip your ecu, if you dont have an obd1 ecu, get one from somewhere, phearable can send you a chipped ecu
wideband, plx or whatever the brand is, i dont remember.

hopefully that will help.

Am in the process of doing the same to my SiR2. Wondered if the greddy e-manage would save getting the Ecu remapped?

yes it would, however, it's not the best tuning software out there.

If it was, more people would be running around on their stock obd2 ecus.

If I were you i would get neptune, crome or hondata.... cant beat all the proven success with any of those 3.

a standalone like aem ems would replace your ecu

Oh ok. Which would be more reliable. The AEM EMS or the Hondata.
"reliable" as in easier to use and setup.

if you're not tuning yourself, use whatever your tuner recommends and is most comfortable with.

Since you're motor and eveyrthing right now is obd2, I'm assuming your ecu is also.

In that case, you'll need to get a chipped obd1 ecu, like a p28, or a p06 thats converted into a p28, or a virgin obd1 ecu like th ones listen above and have your tuner chip it.

Help that helps.
