hello i hard wired in a o2 sensor and now i have a code for o2 sensor a. is it possible to hook up the 2 black wires backwerds?thanks

 

What happens if you reverse them?

IF one way is correct, the other way will not blow anything up. So just try reversing them.

 

O2 code or O2 heater code? the black wires are the heater.

it should make zero difference which way the black wires are connected, at least electrically. But you never know.

 

The car will stall out shortly after starting if the blacks are backwards.

Huh???

It makes no difference, as there is no polarity to the heaters, it is only important to match the colors of the heater wires.

 

just a o2 code, no heater sode

 

the black wires can go either way it makes no difference.

ok thats what i thoght and proved today.the 4 wire has a blue wire insted of the green, that dosent matter does it?

 

Well, what do the directions for the particular O2 sensor indicate that it is?

i have a very important question(sorry for jacking)
does any one know how to wire in a 02 sensor staright from the ecu.
i have a 96 y7 harness in a p72 ecu with a gsr swap and need to wire in my primary o2 sensor.
all i need are the pinout locations

 

96-98 D16Y7 O2 sensor pinout locations

I could be wrong, but I remember reading that. I'll see if I can find the article/how-to. If you don't mind, could you explain further why that's not the case?

Why you should be able to reverse the heater leads? For simplicity, picture a lightbulb filament inside the O2 sensor casing. That's what heats it up. It's like a piece of wire...and a piece of wire doesn't have polarity.

Can you take a pic of your wiring job? Honda ECU's are picky when it comes to O2 sensors. They aren't all created equal despite the "OEM Spec" label that a lot of aftermarket O2 sensors carry.
