Im lowering my crx next week on some koni yellows and neuspeed sport 1.8 drop. i hear all this stuff about camber kits and stuff. my dad told me all i need to do is go get an alignment. which do i need? camber kit, alignment? both? help!!
get the camber kit it is the alignment, right guys...
without it your tires bow out at the bottom and eats your tires up twice as fast, although i think you have better launches and lil better handling, but to save money get the camber, i gotta get some, what it does is pulls the bottom of the tire back in and sits level saves tires thus saving money, get em

I would just leave it alone. The camber really won't be that bad. Your tire will wear uneven, but you probably have soft tires that won't last more than a year anyway. The extra camber will help the car turn into corners. It will not help the car "Launch" as you have less contact patch to "hook up" with. The ingalls camber kits effect the upper portion of the strut pushing it out to add positive camber. One negative with the kit is the ball joint clearance to the fender seam. Many people have to either trim it or deal with the suspension pounding it in.
If you are deadset on installing a kit I have a used one to fit 89-91 front suspension. I am also one days mail away. Let me know

Your father is correct, get an alignment..
You don't need a camber kit, especially at 1.8" ..I havent seen a 1.8" drop cause camber so bad to eat the tires..It's usually from these people not getting the toe set right after they just got done taking apart the suspension

Id post up some pics of my car that is slammed on the ground with konis and skunk2 coils...but Im at work.
No camber kit, and about 5k miles on the current tires with next to no wear on them. (Neo-gens).
And I dont handle the car like a *****, I beat the **** out of it.
Basically, its up to you. Lower it, then go from there.

Exactly.
But make sure he/she sets the front toe to 0(ZERO),,and you won't have any abnormal wear.

camber will eat tires WAY faster than toe. if you're going to lower your car, don't half *** it. get a camber kit for the front and rear and an alignment. not only will you improve your handling, you will improve the life of your tires.

lets do a little test. lay down in the middle of the road and get your best friend to drag you about 20 feet( which is pretty much what incorrect toe is doing to your tires). then roll yourself about 20 feet in the middle of the road(which is all incorrect camber is doing to your tires). then come back and tell us which one hurt more or which gave you the bigger rash.

I don't agree with this. There is no way camber eats faster than bad toe. BILLETGRIP is right in his little analogy. Bad toe is like drifting all the time.
That being said, camber DOES wear tires! Think about it. All the weight of your car is more on the inside of the tires when you have negative camber. How does this not wear them? Especially the front ones.
I have owned two lowered cars and I don't have physical proof of the damage and I'm not going to go take a pic of my current tires wear because I don't have to prove it to anyone, I know negative camber has killed tires on both of my cars. When the inside of the tire is showing belt and you have about 50% tread on the outside.........there is the explanation. Just look at the tilt on your wheels after lowering it. Most cars do have some negative on the rear from the factory but the front should be pretty much 0 degrees.
I am just trying to decide which one I want this time around.
