Do you need a compressor to install shocks?
Hey I have a 96 accord with neuspeed sport springs. Im going to get either tokicos or kybs, but do I need to compress the springs to get it back in? Or is it ok because they are already shorter than stock?
hmm....perhaps you will need one for the fronts. Have a tubby friend hold down the springs while you tighten the nut, or borrow a compressor.
Brian, the cubby friend would have a tough time with the 2000lbs of force needed to compress the springs, but yes, you will need a spring compressor. They, like many other automotive specialty tools, can be rented. At a price. Best bet is to take it to a shop, but DIY is just as good most of the time as long as all of the bolts have the correct amount of tourque.

neuspeed sports are NOT 2000lb springs. you do not need 2000lbs of force to comprese them. that is just ridiculous.
you should use a compressor... but you dont need one.

They are more than 400lb/in springs and will need about 3 in of compression, which would be 1200lbs, sorry, I was wrong. BTW, you will need a spring compressor badly if you are not using shortened shocks or coilovers.
neuspeed sports are NOT 400lb springs either. they are around 185/245 r/f.
thats what the neuspeed man told me when i emailed em... neuspeed race's on the other hand are 400lb springs.

lol... yes you are right about that... i needed a compressor for the front ones, not for the rear. i was installing them with koni's too. what a waste though... i got rid of them less than a month later after one autoX event.
Hello,
The SofSport and Sport springs have the same working spring rate which is 260 lb/in up front while the rear is 165 lb/in. The Race is more aggressive at 485 lb/in up front while the rear is 300 lb/in. Thank you for your inquiry!
Best regards,

I'm not sure if you need a compressor for neuspeed sports, but for eibach prokits (~1-1.5" drop), I had to use a compressor for the fronts. The rear was easy to do.

I used to have Neuspeed sports, and when I installed them with my Konis, I did have to put a little weight down to compress the spring. I had no problem doing this, and I'm only 145lb.
j00 can do it!

no, i installed the sports w/o compressor for the sprot springs up i highly suggest getting one to brace the oem, they pop out quite a bit in the rear
also just in case, they are free to rent with deposit at any major auto store(autozone, pepboys, etc..)
