Default timing all the way advanced

my timing is all the way advanced at the distributor and i still cant get it to stock timing.
i have a b16 w/ gsr hear. could the deck height be throwing the timing off?

More than likely you are a tooth or more off on the timing belt. How much did you have milled of of your head? If you just had it decked for flatness it shouldn't be off.

give us some details on what sort of equipment you're using. Are you using a plain inductive timing light and lining up the red timing marks on the crank pulley, or are you using a timing light w/ advance and lining up the TDC mark?

i checked it with two timing lights and when the engine was tunned @ evans tunning i was told with the distributor fully advanced he was seeing only 12 degrees.

ive never had the head milled or cylinder decked but it may have been by previous owner. i was wondering if my combination on gsr head and b16 block was throwing of the timing due to the shorter deck of the b16. or if it could posibly be the distributor? are all vtec distributors the same?

You are at least one tooth off on the timing belt.

does deck eight matter. gsr's b16 and tall deck dart blocks all have diffrent heights. so the diffrence from the cam centerline to the crank shouldnt matter?

It does matter, but not by that many degrees.

As has been repeatedly stated, your cam timing is off. TDC the motor and make sure you have the right cam gear.
