engine swap research.. better/ best engine??
hey all you prelude owners and lovers... i have an 89 prelude S .. i know not the best of honda's engines right double barrel carb oversized motorcycle engine..and a automatic to boot.... decent speed but nothing great.. anyways i want to do and engine swap badly but not sure what the best ( most powerful , ***** out in a straight line) motor is for the lude.. i allways thought the best one would be the H22 or H22a or 23A... but i do know that the 03 civic si's come with the base block of a S2000 the only real diffeence between blocks is the bore size.. so my question is would the 03 civic si engine bored out or the H22 ( 22a, 23) bored out be the better engine.. or am i completely wrong about the best/ most power full engine.. i also have been told that i should just build up the H22 but the prob i have with that is that if i meet a turbo engine i might get by you know what handed to me even on the highway.. so im wondering whats the fastest setup for my prelude in terms of H series.. or should i go b or k series???? should i bore out the engine?? i know i want to switch to a manual trans as well... i mean there are soooo many options im just trying to get the best setup to the point where i have the ***** off the line power and have enough top end speed where i pull away with no problem so please let me know!! thanks...~Jason
Your confusing the hell outta me. AFAIK 03 Si engines are "economy" and have CVT on the intake side only. Also at low rpm's it only uses 8 valves instead of all 16. So there are definitely a lot of other differences between that and the F20C in the S2K. Don't make this harder than it has to be, just get the H22, or H23 if you can. While it will require some fabbin, there are people that have done it before and can give you helpful advice. I believe there was someone who just did it recently on here and posted pictures. Anyway just stick with the H22 or 23 swap.
Also when Honda uses different different letters on their engines it usually denotes major differences. The 03 Si is the K20 something and the S2K is F20C.

03 Si is a k20a3, it's almost like VTEC-E on the d16y5, in other words, both useless
just stick to what prelude know, h series! it will cost less in the long run, AND you won't be disappointed...
sure a k20 3rd gen would be neat, since I have never seen one, I have seen a k20 5th gen...
but h22>k20a3

Research this engine. H22A7
Comes from an Accord TypeR + LSD. 217bhp, not sure about the torque. Same thing as the TypeS Prelude engine, just with out the ATTS.
