Stock head unit + ipod, what options do I have?
My daily driver is a 99 camry, it has decent double sized headunit with radio, tape, and single cd. What options do I have to play music from my Ipod through the car's speakers without replacing the head unit?

This will give you an AUX in to your factory head unit. Best possible solution.

y wont you replace the headunit? its not like it is something that isnt extremely easy to replace, especially if u already had the radio out to take pix. you can spend just as much money on a poorly functional i-pod interface for the factory radio as you would on a pioneer or alpine that function through the radio just like the scroll wheel, and they will charge the i-pod at the same time.
ps your camry has a factory amp, which uses a metra 70-8112 harness which you dont even have to wire up speaker leads it just uses RCAs, you could install a radio in the car in under a half an hr.

Yes it can be wired directly to the amp, you still need the docking port adaptor.
As for price of HUs that control ipods, they have dropped a lot in the last year or two, or is available on more entry level HUs, even Alpines entry level HU is "high speed" ipod ready, about $25 for cable... http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-e...-9870
Run cable to glove box or console box, once ipod is plugged in all controls are on HU.
If you get the adaptor for your stock HU make sure it is one that uses the ipods docking port, not the one that uses the headphone output jack.

pioneer premier deh-p590 for example (with the i-pod cable) runs $250
most I-pod adapters start at $200, plus you have to buy some power charger for the i-pod and usually an audio cable so the price is probably neck and neck.

are these $200 adapters a step above something like this: http://www.logjamelectronics.c....html
That is a docking port adaptor.
As you can see they start at less then $100.
What you do not want is the ones that use the headphone jack, something like this... http://www.installer.com/item/...d-rca
