WOULD CONVERTING MY CAR TO OBD1 DO ANYTHING?

I HAVE A 200 SI. IF I CONVERT IT TO OBD1 WHATS THE ADVANTAGE OF THAT?

Tuning advantages. But if you dont really have any power adders then its not worth it.

well i do have 4-1 headers, and a cold air...... and would i get any power just by converting?

converting and a tune, yes you will. not much but definitly get somthing from it.

He can tune it with OBD2 as well and get the same thing out of it as he would with an OBD1 setup.

whats he going to tune efficentley and cheaply with? unless he wants a reflash which is alot

Plus it would make the car illegal and fail any kind of inspection. I see the OP lists his home as CA, aren't they pretty strict about modifications there?

that is why you keep your obd2 ecu, all you need it for is smog. as long as the cops cant see it on the floor, they dont mess with it.

He never said anything about being cheap. It's about the only way he'll be able to do it LEGALLY in California.
Swapping over to a chipped OBD1 ECU and getting it tuned that way will net him about the same power gains but with the added head ache of having to swap out his ECU every time he goes to get smogged.

the engine will run much better with a chipped ecu and tune as opposed to a simple vafc. and you dont have to hack into your wiring harness with a chipped ecu.

Hondata (for an EM1) is a chipped OBD1 ECU.

a bad idea would be to buy hondata.
a good idea would be to buy a chipped obd1 ecu.
an eeprom chip, and a drive to the dyno

pm if you want details and prices. im afraid to get yelled at if i post em up in a tech thread.

your in cali also, so keep your obd2 when you have to pass smog.
