Default Turbo on 1991 teg - did search had soem questions

ok so i have some confusions on peicing together my turbo kit. i have a 2001 gsr in my teg right now, taking that out and putting a LS block with GSR head back in.

LS block has
9:1 CP pistons
Eagle ROds
ACL Bearings
Cometic HEad Gasket

Head has COmplete SUpertech valve train

anways im thinking about peicing together my kit cuz everyone says those ebays are junk .

so my question is how do i make sure the exhaust manifold bolts up to the turbo i get? are they pretty much standard size? or are there a few different common sizes or are they just all over the place and i have to get custom stuff welded on or fabbed up.

also for fuel management i have a p28 chipped ECU, going to get RC 550 injectors. of course going to have it tuned right after i start it, dolly it up to a place. Do i need a better fuel pump for 10-14 psi? or nethign else for that matter? thanks let me know. Thanks for the help, i have been searching and i have found alot about what i need, just this last bit. THanks

Which turbo are you using and its profile? I would suggest getting a standalone system with your current ecu, like Hondata. How come you ditched the GSR block? unless you wanted to go ls-vtec turbo, then its a good way to go. But IMO I would of just built the gsr block and boosted it from there. Your stock fuel pump should be fine, depending on the amount of hp your shooting for. But an aftermarket fuel pump won't hurt, cause you don't want to run into fuel starvation or running lean plus you have room to grow when you want to increase the boost.

not sure on turbo. probably a garrett t3/t4 or something. the reason im not using the gsr block is because the gsr is in my car at the moment and i want to build slowly and take my time, its fun not rushing, then when its ready to swap ill take the head off, and get it deckd. slap it on that block and be good to go . plus lsvtec turbo sounds nice, good stroke, good head, so we should be doin good.

main thing im concerned about is how the turbo will bolt up to the manifold, like i was asking i want to know are they standard, standard between a few, or are the bolt patterns all over the place and i just have to get something custom for the turbo. thanks alot!

Bolting up the turbo to the manifold is more of matching the bolt pattern and the size, manifolds come in all shapes and sizes, none are standard to the turbo, unless the manifold is bolted to the turbo already, then you have nothing to worry about. But most people make a custom flange on a manifold in order to bolt it up to the turbo they want to use, hence custom turbo kit.

ls-vtec turbo, just remember that no way in hell will it be smog legal or even be bar'd legal if that was any of your concern. Ls-vtec alone won't pass squat, take your time at building the ls-vtec turbo, if that is your route. Ls-vtec alone is hard enough to make reliable, unless it's built correctly with precision, time, patience, quality parts, skill, experience, and money. And slapping a turbo kit to it will just make it a bigger headache if problems do occur. BUT if and when it's successful, then you got yourself a frankenstein on steroids.

You definitely want to upgrade the injectors regardless of the amount of psi, 440's and up will do good, but how much hp are you trying to reach though?

Not too familiar with that brand, not sure of its reputation, look into log manifolds, ram horn manifolds, cast iron manifolds, etc. go with a reputable company. If 300+ is your goal definitely get the upgraded fuel pump and injectors.

I have a crvtec, I definately advise you to go with a walboro fuel pump and at the very least 550cc injectors, you never know what you're going to run into. Better to have too much than too little. I have 680s right now, and we turned the boost up to 18.5 psi. The installation was definately not as hard as it's made out to be. But i would have someone assist you who has done one before, because the steps have to be very precise or else you have problems. I havent had any problems since we have done it, and it pulls....hard
