What primer to use?? Painting bumpers and sideskirts....
OK, so there's primer filler, primer sealer...blah blah. Which would I use if I'm going to paint my bumpers and sideskirts black? I currently have Heather Mist Metallic (silver) on my Accord...it's the OEM paintjob. I want to have a high gloss black for the bumpers and sideskirts. But I'm going to use a spraycan for this job. I just want to know what type of primer to use...primer filler, primer sealer....? The body is in good shape - I don't need to repair anything. All I need to do is sand the old paint off.
Since you're not repairing anything just scuff it, primer sealer, then your color. Although some people are going to tell you that you don't need a sealer and to just put color on it...I always use a sealer.
Primer is a filler so unless you need spots fillled then you dont have to use it...
and I agree.. always use sealer to keep the color even. Also you might wana spray some of that adhesive promoter or get some additive and mix it with your paint... i just use light coat of plastic adhesive in spray can (know by many as bull dog) to help the paint flex with the bumper and avoid chipping in the future Lot of people dont like it but a very light coat will work wonders

Yes, always use an adhesion promoter and always use flex additive. There are adhesion promoters for raw plastic, and promoters for use over factory paint. Flex additive you definately want to use when refinishing plastic parts.

I couldn't find the adhesion promoter at Auto Zone. I got the primer sealer, base, and clear though. Also, I got the big can that says it's for trucks, vans and SUVs since the import auto cans were really tiny. I doubt it matters since black is black.
