I just got a new Quaife and Syncros and about to try and let my brother (who is a Auto Tech) install everything. However I want him to refer to a write up I thought was on here that I can not find. Does anyone know where a good write up is?
It's for a B16A Y1 Cable Tranny.
Also what bearings need to be replaced?
Any help would be great.

You have to remove the VSS ring gear and transfer it to the Quaife. Make sure that you note which way the gear is oriented with respect to the direction of the teeth of the final drive ring gear.
To remove the VSS ring gear, you have to remove the diff bearing on that side otherwise it'll hang on the bearing.
Replace both diff bearings. Use the 80mm ball bearings instead of the roller bearings. They're easier to set clearance.
Reshim the differential with a single 80mm shim on the gear housing side.

Thanks for the help, that is exactly what I need to know.
Looking at the Majestic Honda web site or Acura parts what part is that? Year & Make? I thought it may be the 93 Teg?
The motor / tranny is a B16A1 with Y1 LSD tranny.

Thanks again, Jeremy

I believe the LS Y80, S4C, and YS1's all use the same differential bearing part number. They're the thinner ones.
If the diff bearing is too thick, the diff won't clearance properly. It'll be too tight.

#18 and #24 are the clutch housing mainshaft seal and bearing. They're commonly referred to as teh input shaft seal and ball bearing.
As for the shim, you have to measure the clearance with the shim you already have, and if it's out of spec, then measure the shim you have and reference the chart in the manual to determine the next shim you should try. It can take a few tries to get it right. I typically stock most of the 80mm shim sizes to avoid the hassle of waiting for parts.
