it depends on what the seller is selling it for. D16Y8s arent really available at motor retailers. You have to find them privately. My friend just got the motor, accesories, intake mani/header, with all sensors for $225.

I agree with everything he said, except the price. His friend must have gotten a hell of a deal on that engine. I'd say someone would sell everything your looking to buy for around 6-800 dollars

you'd be getting ripped off hard for $600-800 for a D16Y8 longblock. You can get a B18A/B longblock or a B20 long block for that much. You can get a JDM D15B for $500-600 at most motor retailers. I agree that my friend got a deal, but i mean....private seller motors are obviously out there.

a complete Y8 setup with roughly 80-100k i would guess would run $600...at the most $800 but for that price the motor/tranny shoulud be in good condition with 60k or so.

yes if you get lucky, and probably they aren't complete. Finding a mint obd2 Y8 complete isn't a walk in the park.

I find they are usually missing the wire harness or ecu, or both

Who said anything about just a long block? They are talking EVERYTHING... as in everything you need to put it in and go.

And I would have to agree with the $600-800. However they are not that easy to come by in good working condition. I would suggest you look for a z6 instead. There seem to be a lot more readily available and at about the same price.

Thats what i did...i was selling the complete swap for 500, then i found someone who wanted just the tranny and said he would give me 300 so i said sure, then sold the rest for 375, so i essentially came up on that deal
