i own 97 honda civic with a 95 gsr obd 1 motor i got a check engine light on but am pretty sure it because of the knock sensor but if i hold the trottle gently at 1500 rpms it surges and will go a liltle faster if i give it a tiny bit more of gass but if i press the petel just a lilttle bit to hard it revs fine it only when i hold the throttle at 1500 or if i have my foot on the pedtal the right amount when im driving the car suges badly at 1500 and if im decelorating too. anyone have any ideas or the same problem and fixed it plz let me know i cant figure it out

check the stuff you'd find while searching 'idle surge'

tb gasket, tps settings, vacuum leaks, throttle cable too tight, bad/dirty IACV, loose fast idle valve, etc, etc.

the tb gasket was a culprit for me. you said you are pretty sure the light is for knock sensor...well, why don't you check to see what the codes are for sure???
