Default Advise on purging gas fellas

Hey all, my 00 civic si has been sitting since december 2006 with essentially a full tank of gas because it was a in mid-major front end collision. With the parts almost in place and ready to run, what do y'all suggest I do with the gas in the tank (or even the tank itself?)? Should I just siphon? Any suggestions/advise is appreciated.

yeah you could siphon it, then fill up and use some kind of fuel additive to help clean your injectors. i would do a tune up too

There is a drain bolt in the bottom of the tank. You could drain the old gas out and put new gas in?

just start it up?? mines been sitting since 9/2005 to the present. never a problem i start the car up once a month. im down to half a tank of gas.

draining the tank will do nothing but wasting gas...

remember you have two filters on the car before the gas actually goes into your engine..

the screen filter on the fuel pump at the tank. and also the fuel filter in the engine bay.

and you dont need any additives either. will octane degrade? yes but your engine will not blow up just run it normally til your done with the gas then refill with fresh gas and put stp additive. ofcoarse you will want to do your normal tune up prior to driving it and you will be fine...

but you'll most likely drain the gas because everyone says its a good idea.

good luck you'll be fine

Fuel Stabilizer is my personal choice for long term storage but you can always do as others have already suggested and drain the tank.
Periodic start ups is also an option that works very well.
The choice is yours.

You actually have 3 filters; the fuel pump filter sock; the fuel filter on the fire wall; and the fuel filter inside the injectors.
