Default Need opinions on why my e-brake suddenly doesnt work..

I just installed the disk on my EK. Brakes have not been bled (waiting on prop. valve). The e-brake worked last night right after the install. I took the calipers off early today and painted them. One caliper I took the brake line off the car, the other I just unbolted taped off areas I didn't want painted. Painted them, but the the calipers back on and now the e-brake won't engage.

Any ideas? I wouldn't think taking the rubber line off would affect this since the e-brake are mechanical and engaged by cable.

Is it still hooked up on the caliper properly?

perhaps a stupid question:
Did you reattach the cable to the calipers?
If yes (and i really hope so...) is the mechanism working when the handle is pulled?
(you look while someone pulls the brake up)

Well I never unhooked the e-brake cable when I pained them. Only the other line (rubber line with brake fluid). Not only that I only did that line on one side. On the other side I just unbolted the two 12mm bolts and slid the caliper off. Taped off and sprayed.

I have not looked while its being pulled. Ill have to get my gf or someone to do it while i watch. All I know is there is no tension at all when you pull the handle even when I adjust it.

still no dice....

For whatever reason I dont think the piston is extending now. the sytem is not bled or have much brake fluid in it (waiting on prop valve to come before i do all that). That would not make a difference would it?

you have to have brake fluid to make the e-brake work. all the e-brake does is pressurizes the fluid that is in the caliper. no fluid= no e-brake. bleed them out and they will work.

I hope your right I always thought the ebrake was all mechanical so you could use it to stop incase of emergency lol.
