red/black stripe is parking light wire. you can also find this in an outlet in the front of the fuse box.

SO IS THAT THE ONE TO SPLICE INTO?

DOES THE RED/BLK ONLY GET HOT WHEN THE PARKING LIGHTS ARE ON, OR THE REGULAR LIGHTS AS WELL?

red/black is input to dimmer not its output.

Your tachs illumination needs to be connected to a 12V+ dimmer control to dim properly, or do what I did, open tach up disconnect illumination bulb(s) ground connect a lead to the bulb, ground side and run it out of the tach, connect the tachs illumination lead to the red/black and the ground you added to the red lead, done deal, fused at cars illumination fuse and brightness controlled along with rest of dash lights. 94</TD></TR></TABLE> I always listen when FCM speaks

lol why the hell would you do all that when you can just conect the white wire on the tach to any 12v and get the same result ? i would not open a tach up and do all that shyt its not needed
