This may not even be a problem but its never happened to me before so here goes. today i was "driving spiritedly" and while I was still in first gear, as it got to about 6.5k RPMs power dropped off a lot then at 7k it just cut out completely until i upshifted then it kept going just fine. I didnt hit the rev limiter, was it just the fuel cutoff? why did the top end power just die off? (if used to be fine but lately top end in 1st gear has gone down the crapper)

 

forgot to add: its a 97 non-SH

 

sounds like your vtAk might be cutting out up there, check your oil level, its probably low, and when it sloshes around it pops outta VTAK for a min.

checked the oil, its actually a bit high.

this thing doesnt go through as much oil as my GSR did, i guess i should monitor it a bit more closely lol

as for the sloshing, you may be onto something. I usually have decent top-end but when i leave my school parking lot onto a long straight away ive gotta pull out fast (possible sloshing cause?) which is then followed by drag practice lol
