i got a problem
hey guys,i drive a 2001 prelude and today i had a run with my friend in his s40 volvo , and when i was in 1st gear i reved it to redline, but as soon as i hit 7000rpm , it feels like my engine shutted off, and my car jumped. can anyone tell me what is wrong with my car? thx alot i hope its not serious.

Haha, sounds like the guy's fudgin the numbers a bit to try to save his ***.
Sound like you really rev'd a bit higher than you're saying, and you hit the rev limiter.

do you have a type SH or a base? My SH used to do that when i had a problem with the ATTS system. Only mine did it at like 4500 RPMs constantly. And that is why I sold the car
i know why it does this. mine does the same thing. i have an 01 base model and when my car is not warmed up it does the same thing, like ill try to bone out right after i start the car and once i get around 7000 rpms it jumps so what i do is i put it neutral and i rev it up a bit and then just drive around for a little while and then it should be all good. mine just does it when my car isn't warm

I could of swore that the cold-start rev limiter was lower than 7k, but it very well may be; it's been a while since I drove a 5th gen. Try letting it warm up fully before romping on it, and see if it does it again.

ya tat is what i thought to, but i don't abuse my car, i always drive it around for 10 mins or so before i actually even consider hittin over 5400rpm. but ya it mite be the car isn't warm enuff, thx alot guys
