Default 5-speed D16Y7 to D17A1/D17A2 swap.. has anyone done this?

Hey there.. i am retiring my souped up chevy camaro due to rising gas prices. A friend of mine is getting rid of his 1999 honda civic LX (manual trans. ) for $2000. The tranny is new but the engine has ~200kmi. on it. I just can't resist.

I know this is a mainly performance-oriented forum, but i'm interested in swapping the newer 1.7l engine into this puppy. Has anyone ever done a 1.6 to 1.7 swap, for the meager horsepower/torque gain + higher mpg rating? and if so.. is it worth the hassle?

thanks
