Default Supercharged

Ive seen a few new civics on here with superchargers. My question is, why doenst anyone have there supercharger intercooled, or aftercooled I believe its called?

I just figured if an intercooler could help a turbo as much as it does, why not have one on a supercharged vechile?

Just curious

My lack of F.I. leads to retarded questions -_-

Ease of installation and superchargers dont run off the exhaust so the temps are not as high...

Yes it would benefit from one, I am assuming for ease of installation, benefit (power gained) and cost, they are not included...

Most supercharger kits for the Si dont push more than 8 PSI so there is little need for an intercooler since intake charge temps arent extremely high, adding an intercooler would help a little, but not enough to offset the cost or install effort.

if you planned on higher boost.. like 12+psi, would it be worth the time / effort?

Turbocharger would probably be best for the higher psi ratings... I dont think it would be a good idea to run 12psi at idle on stock internals...

You have to have one if you boost more than 10, I have yet to see anyone boost over 8. Superchargers are known for being easy and reliable thats why people go that route, and most people that do keep it low. I will be soon, and I know I am gonna be keeping it low too.

Superchargers can provide great power across the board and reliably if you keep the boost in check... Turbo'ed engines can make insane amounts of power in the upper RPM band fairly safe depending on tuning and internals...

Ease of use, more predictable power... Supercharger...
More technical, want that snap of power when you floor it and capable of obtaining really high HP numbers... Turbo...

If you like twisty corners, I would say supercharger...
If you like straight line speed, turbo...

You realize that there is no boost at idle, right?

The Comptech Supercharger for the 06 Si didnt have an Aftercooler option
the s2k's did...

Also the Tuning for the Comptech unit was done on Hellzcivic's car here...and honestly they never produced enough units to further testing into aftercooled options
and even if yoiu DID want to run one..... you'd face the ECU again.

Again..this is just another ..."when the kpro" comes out topic.
& even WHEN it comes out for the prices that an aftercooler kit & kpro its not really worth it.

The reason i went with comptech over redshit or JR is that i dont want to upgrade it... I get "urges" to keep buying things all the time... and with comptech unless i get the prototype pullies from nate @ comptech ( like hellz did) & wait for kpro it then puts the car in "unreliable territory" and i should have just bought an eg and boosted it rather than a brand new car that can blow the motor at anytime.

4 Comptech @ 5psi

Well the problem with this is this

http://www.8thcivic.com/forums...ge=24

Alot of the "new" si/honda guys are just looking for the figures vs reliability & known/proven history.

Am I knocking the idea.. hell no.. if they benefit the car or members
all around...

but to push unanswerable questions/statements and dodge basic information while holding thousands of dollars in "deposits"

Has bad news written all over it

Cliff notes....

Faster or Higher Figures are generallly NOT always better
& Never pay money to something that you've never seen.

Water/methanol injection works really well on any vehicle... Even n/a vehicles will benefit from the lower temps and cleaner combustion chamber... It is not vehicle or engine specific, just make sure the kit is built properly and the injector sprays the correct amout of fluid...

Water injection is something I have contenplated for several of my past vehicles and you will want to do LOTS of research on the topic before installing a kit...

I'm not looking into it until I have something more than a reflash.
